MANUFACTURER REEL REPAIR

Most major reel manufacturers offer authorized reel repair centers. For routine maintenance, like cleaning and lubing, most tackle shops are adequate.
For many older reel lines/brands like Penn and Newell, they offer a full line of parts like drag washers and bearings. But for many reasons, the manufacturer reel repair may be the better option for difficult problems or part availability issues. Nearly all require a service request form to accompany the reel. The request form is downloadable from the company website. UPS shipping is preferred.

Accurate Reels
Accurate offers flat rate service for all Accurate reels except spinning reels less than 10 years old. They do not service spinning reels and may decline service on reels more than 10 years old. For older models no longer maintained, they offer a 25% discount on new products.

Avet Reels
Avet offers flat rate service on all current Avet reel lines with complete overhaul as part of service. Pricing ranges from $44 to $56 depending on reel size.

Daiwa Reels
Daiwa offers a reel service that is primarily oriented toward repair rather than maintenance. Download a service request form from the Daiwa website. Repair pricing will be quoted upon inspection.

Okuma Reels
Okuma offers a repair-oriented service, again price quoted based on inspection. My personal experience was with a reel no longer under warranty that was repaired free of charge because failure was attributed to a known defective part. Okuma offers a walk in service, this is drop off only, not same day repair.

Penn Reels
Many Penn reels such as Senators, Jig masters, and Internationals have been around so long, most tackle shops carry full complement of parts and offer in house service. Penn offers a flat rate $10 plus parts service fee which will include routine clean and lubing. As an old line manufacturer, there is sadly a long list of reels no longer serviced.

Shimano offers a full maintenance and service for most products. A few older models are clean and lube only.
