Thank you for attending the club’s annual BBQ

Message from Rick Lane

Thank you everyone who attended the BBQ!
Kevin Slagg won the reel, Richard Hartman won the Rod and Rick Campos (Rich’s son) won the fishing trip. It was a very nice day. That park is great.
The raffle made enough to fund the rest of the kids trip!
Speaking of the kids trip, we have volunteers, but if you really want to go, just email me and I will get you on.
Trip #6 the 1.5 day on the Endeavor was full for months, but suddenly 4 had to drop out. If you have been following Tucker, you know he is the best. There is a video of him out where he is bouncing a WSB on a squid jig.
This trip leaves Aug 6 at 10 pm, and returns on Aug 8 at 8 am. You fish all day! The cost is $460 with $80 for food and $20 for fuel due at the dock. If you want on the trip, please just email me and I will give you the go ahead to zelle so I can get back to you immediately. (go into Zelle and use venturacountysportfishingclub@gmail.com as the search. It then comes up with us bank)
These 1.5 day trips are a lot of fun, and the load is ultra limited to 16.

– KIDS’ TRIP, AUG 14

The Ventura County Sportfishing Club just completed the 2023 kids’ trip on the Californian out of Ventura Landing on August 14.

What did we catch? Tons of whitefish and assorted rock fish. We had more than 200 fish on the boat. Unlike other trips, these kids really wanted to come back with bags of fillets to cook and have a fish fry. Captain Steve Virtue put us right on the fish. We were off Santa Cruz island, and it was dead flat calm. No one got seasick and we did not have one incident. All you heard was laughter and cheering. Every kid had a large bag to take home.

Thank you volunteers! We even had a rock star on the boat! Andy, from the Big Bad Voodoo Daddys joined Ira, Peter, Richard, Me (Rick), and Ralph. In addition, 5 caretakers joined us from Family Services. They crew on the Californian really worked hard to keep everyone fishing. The galley food was excellent and the deck hands were very friendly and professional.

We are all now big fans of the Californian!
