The board explored many venues in search of a new meeting “home”—one without cover charges or mandatory food purchases. We found that all locations, including our former base at the Alamo, now require a minimum spend, with some asking unexpectedly high amounts.
After careful consideration, we chose Black Bear Diner in Ventura as the most budget-friendly option with a private setup that suits our group well.
As part of our agreement—and in line with standard restaurant policy—each attendee is kindly asked to order at least one food item and one beverage from their reasonably priced menu.
Meeting in a restaurant is a privilege. Let’s support the spaces that welcome us and be thoughtful stewards of the partnerships that make our gatherings possible.

Meeting starts: 6pm
Club Business / Opportunity Drawing – pt 1: 6:00-6:20
Speaker Presentation: 6:20-7:15pm
Announcements / Opportunity drawing – pt 2 : 7:20
Wrap-up & Exit: 8:00pm

My many years running our own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs.
Passionate about fishing, I have been a staff writer for Western Outdoor News (WON) for over 20-years. Getting out on numerous WON fishing charters off-shore along the southern California coast, exploring Alaska and Mexico, and finding hidden gems like Bishop and Auburn for wild trout, makes it worth the effort.
Writing about the outdoors led me to a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional members of OWAC as the Executive Director, I work to support the members of the organization and achieve their mission to tell stories of the great outdoors, which has been truly rewarding for me both personally and professionally.
